Guide

Move from the Clearbit Logo API to LogoAPI.

Clearbit’s Logo API shut down in December 2025. LogoAPI works the same way: one image URL, the company domain, no key, no signup. The file is SVG instead of PNG.

The one-line answer: replace logo.clearbit.com/<domain> with logoapi.sh/<domain>.svg.

Before
<img src="https://logo.clearbit.com/stripe.com">
After
<img src="https://logoapi.sh/stripe.com.svg">
Result
Stripe logo

URL mapping

Every Clearbit URL form, and what to use instead. Clearbit parameters are as documented by Clearbit before shutdown (archived copy of clearbit.com/docs).

ClearbitLogoAPINote
logo.clearbit.com/stripe.comlogoapi.sh/stripe.com.svgThe bare form logoapi.sh/stripe.com gives the same answer, without the extension. Use .svg so the file type is clear.
?size=128 (any integer, default 128)Not supportedSVG has no pixel size. Set height or width on the <img> and it stays sharp.
?format=png or jpg (default png)Not supportedThe answer is SVG only. PNG and WebP are listed as coming soon on the docs page.
?greyscale=true (boolean)logoapi.sh/grey/stripe.com.svgGrey removes the colour. Also available: white, black and dark (for dark backgrounds), e.g. /white/stripe.com.svg.
Square logo in an avatarlogoapi.sh/icon/github.com.svgThe square mark, for avatars and lists. Here you choose the wordmark or the icon.
Company name to domainlogoapi.sh/search?q=stripeMatches an exact brand name, an exact domain or a close typo. Up to 8 JSON results with logo and icon URLs.

The table maps Clearbit’s URL forms. LogoAPI has more routes, such as favicons, colour variants, search and brand pages. All of them are on the docs page.

Copy-paste snippets

Plain HTML with a fallback

An unknown domain returns a 404 with no placeholder image, so onerror runs your own fallback.

<img src="https://logoapi.sh/stripe.com.svg" alt="Stripe" height="24"
     onerror="this.onerror=null;this.src='/img/generic-company.svg'">

JavaScript fetch with a 404 fallback

Every response sends Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *, so this works from any site.

async function logoUrl(domain) {
  const url = `https://logoapi.sh/${domain}.svg`;
  const res = await fetch(url);
  return res.ok ? url : '/img/generic-company.svg'; // 404 = not in the catalog
}

logoUrl('stripe.com').then(src => { img.src = src; });

React component

import { useState } from 'react';

export function CompanyLogo({ domain, name, height = 24 }) {
  const [failed, setFailed] = useState(false);
  const src = failed
    ? '/img/generic-company.svg'
    : `https://logoapi.sh/${domain}.svg`;
  return (
    <img src={src} alt={name} height={height}
         onError={() => setFailed(true)} />
  );
}

Keep your own fallback image. The snippets use /img/generic-company.svg as in the docs example; point it at a file you host.

What is different

SVG first

Files are vector and sharp at any size. There is no size or format parameter. Raster output is not available today; PNG and WebP are listed as coming soon.

Limits

Free for fair use, no key, no attribution. Per IP: 150 requests per 10 seconds, 300 per minute (over it the IP is blocked for 1 hour), 120 searches per minute, 500 searches per day. Responses are cached at the edge for a day.

Coverage

LogoAPI serves a curated catalog of 4,133 brands, not every domain on the web. If you looked up long-tail domains with Clearbit, expect some 404s. The Logo Finder shows what is covered.

Missing logos

A domain we do not have returns a plain-text 404 and no placeholder image, so your fallback always runs. A monogram fallback is listed as coming soon. Missing a brand? Email hello@logoapi.sh.

Claim and remove

Trademark owners can claim or correct a logo on the Claim page. Takedown requests go through Remove. Contacts: claim@logoapi.sh and takedown@logoapi.sh.

Many lookups

Looking up lots of unknown domains in a loop is limited: 300 unknown domains (404s) in 10 minutes blocks the IP for 1 hour. Cache the result in your app. Need bulk? Email hello@logoapi.sh.

FAQ

Do I need an API key or an account?

No. Paste the URL and it renders. No key, no signup, no attribution.

Can I still get PNG files?

Not today. Logos are SVG. PNG and WebP at any size are listed as coming soon. Most places that took a Clearbit PNG, such as <img> tags and CSS backgrounds, accept SVG. Email clients and older tools may not.

What happens when a company is not in the catalog?

You get a 404 with no placeholder, so your onerror or fetch fallback runs. Search by name to see if the brand lives on another domain; some brands answer on several domains.

Can I download the files and host them myself?

Yes. The compare page lists cache or self-host as supported: download the files and serve them yourself. Fair use still applies: do not bulk-copy the catalog to run a competing service. For heavy use, email hello@logoapi.sh.
