Alternative

A free Brandfetch alternative: no client ID, no signup.

Brandfetch is a strong, free logo API, and it is a bigger product than LogoAPI. If you only need a logo in an <img> tag, LogoAPI is simpler: one URL from the company domain, no client ID, no account, no attribution, and the file is SVG. Brandfetch needs a client ID on every request, serves WebP by default, and offers SVG for its logo and symbol types. It also asks you to embed the link in a page instead of fetching it from code.

The one-line swap: replace cdn.brandfetch.io/<domain>/logo?c=CLIENT_ID with logoapi.sh/<domain>.svg.

LogoAPI is a curated catalog of 4,133 brands, free for up to 1M requests a month per site. Brandfetch covers far more brands and sells much more than logos. The section “When Brandfetch is the better choice” says where.

Missing logo404 with no placeholder, so your fallback runs.By default a fallback image with status 200: a transparent placeholder for an unknown domain, the Brandfetch mark if the brand has no matching asset. fallback/404 gives a 404; fallback/lettermark gives a letter icon.

SVG stays sharp

An SVG is drawn from shapes, so it stays crisp when you zoom in or set a larger height. A raster file has a fixed grid of pixels.

Migrate from Brandfetch

The URL changes in two places: the host and the client ID. There is nothing to move over.

Before: Brandfetch

WebP by default, SVG for logo and symbol. Needs a client ID.
After: LogoAPI

cdn.brandfetch.io/stripe.com/logo?c=...logoapi.sh/stripe.com.svgDrop the client ID. The bare form logoapi.sh/stripe.com gives the same answer.
.../stripe.com/icon (the default type)logoapi.sh/icon/stripe.com.svgSquare mark for avatars and lists.
.../stripe.com/symbolNo symbol typeBrandfetch documents symbol as “the universal mark that abstractly represents the brand”. LogoAPI documents a wordmark and a square icon. Compare the two per brand before you switch.
w/, h/, .png, .jpgNot supportedSVG has no pixel size. Set height or width on the <img> and it stays sharp at any density.
theme/darklogoapi.sh/dark/stripe.com.svgBrandfetch documents dark as “the dark version of the logo”. LogoAPI documents dark as for dark backgrounds, next to white, black and grey. Check the result per brand.
fallback/404DefaultA missing logo is always a 404. Use onerror for your own fallback.
fallback/lettermark, fallback/transparentNot supportedNo placeholder is generated. Draw your own in the onerror handler.
/ticker/AAPL, /isin/..., /crypto/BTClogoapi.sh/search?q=appleName search returns up to 8 JSON results. Ticker, ISIN and crypto lookups do not exist.
// before
const src = `https://cdn.brandfetch.io/${domain}/logo?c=${CLIENT_ID}&h=64`;
// after
const src = `https://logoapi.sh/${domain}.svg`; // set height=64 on the img

More snippets, including a React component with a fallback, are in the migration guide.

When Brandfetch is the better choice

Brandfetch is free up to a million logo requests a month, asks for no attribution, and does a lot more than serve logos. Stay on it, or pair it with LogoAPI, if any of these is true.

  • You need brand data, not only a logo. Its Brand API returns colour schemes, fonts, images and other firmographic information. LogoAPI has the colours found in each logo, and official colours and fonts are not live yet.
  • You look up long-tail domains. LogoAPI is a curated catalog of 4,133 brands; unknown domains are a 404 here. Brandfetch’s homepage says “50M+ brands around the world”, and it publishes its own coverage figures.
  • You start from a ticker, ISIN or crypto symbol. Brandfetch supports those lookups; LogoAPI does not.
  • You need raster files or exact pixel sizes. Brandfetch serves WebP, PNG and JPG with w and h. LogoAPI is SVG only today.
  • You want a generated fallback when a logo is missing. Brandfetch can return a lettermark icon or a placeholder. LogoAPI returns a 404.
  • You want AI and workflow tooling. Brandfetch lists an MCP server, a Brand Context API, webhooks, and Zapier, Make, n8n, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets and Airtable integrations. LogoAPI’s MCP server is listed as coming soon.
  • You need a contract, SLAs or security paperwork. Brandfetch’s Custom plan lists enterprise SLAs and a dedicated account manager, and its docs have a Security and SOC 2 page. LogoAPI offers Pro ($29 a month) and Enterprise with custom terms; see pricing.

FAQ

What is a free Brandfetch alternative with no client ID?

LogoAPI. Paste https://logoapi.sh/<domain>.svg into an <img> tag. No client ID, no account, no attribution link. It is free for up to 1M requests a month per site.

Is Brandfetch free?

Yes. Its Logo API is free up to 1M requests a month, with no attribution. The trade-off: you create an account, add a client ID to every request, and get WebP by default (SVG only for the logo and symbol types). LogoAPI needs no account and no ID, and always returns SVG. Choose Brandfetch if you also need colours, fonts and company data.

Do I have to credit LogoAPI?

No. There is no attribution requirement, for personal or commercial projects. Brandfetch does not ask for one either.

Does LogoAPI have brand colours and fonts?

It shows the colours found in each logo on its brand pages. Official colours, fonts and company info are listed as coming soon on the pricing page. For full brand data today, use Brandfetch.

What happens if LogoAPI does not have a company?

You get a 404 and no placeholder image, so your own fallback runs. LogoAPI has 4,133 curated brands, fewer than Brandfetch’s coverage. Search by name in the Logo Finder to check a brand first.
