Alternative
A free Logo.dev alternative: no key, no signup.
LogoAPI is a free Logo.dev alternative. One image URL, the company domain, no API key, no signup and no attribution link, and the file is SVG. Logo.dev needs a publishable key in every URL, asks commercial projects on its free plan for a link back, and serves JPG, PNG and WebP, not SVG.
The one-line swap: replace img.logo.dev/<domain>?token=pk_... with logoapi.sh/<domain>.svg.
<img src="https://img.logo.dev/stripe.com?token=pk_XXXX"><img src="https://logoapi.sh/stripe.com.svg">LogoAPI is a curated catalog of 4,133 brands, free for fair use. Logo.dev covers far more domains and more formats. The section “When Logo.dev is the better choice” says where.

How it works
stripe.comlogoapi.sh/stripe.com.svgsharp at any size, no keyQuick comparison
| LogoAPI | Logo.dev | |
|---|---|---|
| API key | None. | Required. A publishable key (pk_) in the token parameter. |
| Signup | None. No account, no email. | Free account; the site offers “Get started for free” and a free API key. |
| Free tier limits | Free for fair use. Per IP: 150 requests per 10 seconds, 300 per minute. | Community plan: 500,000 Logo CDN requests per month, a hard cap; requests stop until next month or an upgrade. Also $5 in monthly API credits. |
| Attribution | None. | Required for commercial projects on the free plan: a link with the text “Logos provided by Logo.dev”. Personal projects and paid plans do not need it. |
| Formats | SVG, with white, black, grey and dark versions. PNG and WebP are listed as coming soon. | JPG by default, PNG and WebP on request. The docs say “The CDN does not serve SVG.” |
| Rate limits | 300 per minute per IP, 150 per 10 seconds, 120 searches per minute, 500 searches per day (50 per day from cloud and hosting networks). | Community: 100 API requests per minute, 500 search requests per minute, 5 concurrent API requests. On the CDN, the Community plan has a per-minute limit per account and per IP, and its rate-limits page does not state the number. Paid plans have no per-minute CDN limit; the monthly allowance is soft. |
| Missing logo | 404 with no placeholder, so your fallback runs. | By default a generated monogram with status 200 (202 on the first request for a new domain). fallback=404 returns a 404 instead. |
| Cache or self-host | Yes. Fair use: do not bulk-copy the catalog to run a competing service. | Allowed on every plan: “cache API results and host the returned assets yourself.” |
| Lookup by name | Domain in the URL, plus /search?q= by brand name. | By domain, name, ticker, ISIN and crypto symbol. |
| Coverage | A curated catalog of 4,133 brands. | Says it monitors “over 100 million brands for logo updates”. It does not give a count of logos you can fetch. |
| Paid plans | Free for fair use. Pro is $29 a month with higher limits and email support; Enterprise has custom limits and terms. Contact us for either. See pricing. | Startup is listed at $33 a month with 1,000,000 Logo CDN requests per month, Pro at $150 a month with 5,000,000, Enterprise is custom. The pricing page also has a yearly option. |

SVG stays sharp
An SVG is drawn from shapes, so it stays crisp when you zoom in or set a larger height. A raster file has a fixed grid of pixels.
Illustration: any 32px raster scaled up. Both images come from the same LogoAPI file.
Migrate from Logo.dev
The URL changes in two places: the host and the token. There is no key to move.
<img src="https://img.logo.dev/stripe.com?token=pk_XXXX"><img src="https://logoapi.sh/stripe.com.svg">| Logo.dev | LogoAPI | Note |
|---|---|---|
img.logo.dev/stripe.com?token=pk_... | logoapi.sh/stripe.com.svg | Drop the token. The bare form logoapi.sh/stripe.com gives the same answer. |
size=, retina=true, format= | Not supported | SVG has no pixel size. Set height or width on the <img> and it stays sharp at any density. |
greyscale=true | logoapi.sh/grey/stripe.com.svg | Also white, black and dark. |
theme=dark | logoapi.sh/dark/stripe.com.svg | Dark-background version. |
fallback=404 | Default | A missing logo is always a 404. Use onerror for your own fallback. |
/name/stripe, /ticker/... | logoapi.sh/search?q=stripe | Name search returns up to 8 JSON results. Ticker, ISIN and crypto lookups do not exist. |
// before
const src = `https://img.logo.dev/${domain}?token=${KEY}&format=png&size=64`;
// after
const src = `https://logoapi.sh/${domain}.svg`; // set height=64 on the img
More snippets, including a React component with a fallback, are in the migration guide.
When Logo.dev is the better choice
Stay on Logo.dev, or pair it with LogoAPI, if any of these is true.
- You need raster files. Email clients and some older tools need PNG or JPG. LogoAPI is SVG only today.
- You look up long-tail domains. LogoAPI is a curated catalog of 4,133 brands. Logo.dev says it covers over 100 million brands. Unknown domains are a 404 here.
- You need exact pixel sizes or retina files from the CDN. Logo.dev has
sizeandretinaparameters. - You start from a ticker, ISIN or crypto symbol. Logo.dev supports those lookups; LogoAPI does not.
- You want a monogram when a logo is missing. Logo.dev returns one by default. LogoAPI returns a 404 and leaves the fallback to you.
- You need a paid plan, support or custom terms today. Logo.dev sells them. LogoAPI is free for fair use. Pro ($29 a month) adds higher limits and email support, and Enterprise has custom limits and terms; see pricing.
FAQ
What is a free Logo.dev alternative with no API key?
LogoAPI. Paste https://logoapi.sh/<domain>.svg into an <img> tag. No key, no account, no attribution link. It is free for fair use.
Do I have to credit LogoAPI?
No. There is no attribution requirement, for personal or commercial projects. Logo.dev asks commercial projects on its free plan to link back.
Can I get PNG or WebP like on Logo.dev?
Not today. LogoAPI serves SVG. PNG and WebP are listed as coming soon. Most <img> tags and CSS backgrounds accept SVG; email clients and older tools may not.
What happens if LogoAPI does not have a company?
You get a 404 and no placeholder image, so your own fallback runs. LogoAPI has 4,133 curated brands, fewer than Logo.dev’s coverage. Search by name in the Logo Finder to check a brand first.
